Community & event production

MadMonquee

A community built around gathering people who don't usually end up in the same room — and making the room worth it. Concept to teardown: brainstorming, planning, production, execution.

Event production at scale

Navshakti Navratri

Nine nights of garba with crowds up to fifteen thousand. Sound, safety, flow, volunteers, vendors — a temporary city assembled every evening and folded away every night.

The craft

From brainstorm to teardown.

Brainstorming

Every event begins as an argument between three good ideas.

Planning

Spreadsheets, walkthroughs, and the rule: plan the failure modes first.

Execution

The night itself — where the plan ends and the event begins.

Management

Volunteers run on respect and chai. Provide generous amounts of both.

Behind the scenes

  • The crowd never sees the three hundred small saves that make a flawless night. That's the definition of a flawless night.
  • Fifteen thousand people are not a crowd; they are fifteen thousand individual evenings you are personally hosting at once.
  • The most important crew member is whoever knows a guy. Every city, every event — there is always a guy.

Photographs, crew stories and production notes are being cleared with the people in them. The best behind-the-scenes material is also someone else's behind-the-scenes.
